Who is responsible for your data
The data controller for visitbaliguide.com is Hugo Rodrigues, reachable at contact@visitbaliguide.com. Because the publisher is established in the European Union, this site applies the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) to every visitor, wherever you are reading from.
What we collect, and why
- Audience measurement. With your consent, Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity record anonymised usage data — pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser, and how you move through a page. We use it to work out which guides are useful and which need rewriting. Legal basis: your consent.
- Affiliate tracking. When you follow a booking link, the partner (GetYourGuide, Booking.com and others) may set its own cookie to attribute the booking to us. We record the page the click came from; we never receive your payment details or booking contents. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in operating a funded guide.
- Technical logs. Our host, Vercel, keeps short-lived server logs including IP addresses, for security and to keep the site running. Legal basis: legitimate interest.
We do not sell personal data, and we do not run an advertising network on this site.
Cookies
Analytics and measurement cookies are set only after you accept them in the banner shown on your first visit. Declining leaves the site fully usable — Google Consent Mode blocks the tags rather than merely hiding them. You can change your mind at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser, which brings the banner back.
Transfers outside the EU
Google, Microsoft and Vercel process data in the United States. These transfers rely on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and on the standard contractual clauses published by the European Commission. US law may give public authorities access to data held by these providers under conditions that differ from EU law.
How long we keep it
Analytics data is retained for 14 months and then deleted automatically. Server logs are kept for 30 days. Any email you send us is kept as long as needed to answer it, and for up to three years afterwards.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can request access to your personal data, correction, erasure, restriction of processing, portability, and you can object to processing based on legitimate interest. Where processing rests on consent, you can withdraw it at any time without affecting what was done beforehand.
To exercise any of these rights, write to contact@visitbaliguide.com. We answer within one month. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with the French data protection authority (CNIL) or with the supervisory authority of your country of residence.
Changes to this policy
We update this page whenever the tools or purposes described here change; the date at the top always reflects the current version. See also our legal notice.
