Bali weather in June
The month the volcanoes come back. Dry air lifts the haze that hides the interior for half the year, and high season starts halfway through.
June brings around 65 mm of rain over four days, eight hours of sun and the coolest nights and the coolest sea of the year. On paper it is close to perfect, and in practice it is the month where the island stops being quiet.
The change nobody mentions is visual. The haze that sits over the interior for half the year lifts around June, and Agung and Batur come back properly. If the reason you are climbing anything is what you see from the top, that window opens now.

Is June a good time to visit Bali
Excellent, and no longer quiet
June has the best combination of weather and visibility on the calendar. Dry, breezy, comfortable to walk in, clear enough to see the volcanoes, and settled enough that no boat gets cancelled. The Gates of Heaven actually have a mountain behind them again.
What you give up is space and money. High season starts around the middle of the month and the rates step up sharply rather than drifting. From mid June, famous sites need an early start rather than a plan.
Is June right for your trip
June is the month the answers start splitting on price rather than on weather. Everything works, and from the middle of the month everything costs more.
Diving in June
The season proper begins
The best month for this
Visibility is at dry season levels, commonly twenty five metres and better, crossings are reliable and the mola mola season starts opening late in the month at Crystal Bay. The manta stations are excellent. The water is at its coldest of the year, so bring a proper wetsuit rather than a shorty.
Manta Point and what you actually see thereSurfing in June
Peak conditions arrive
The best month for this
The trade winds are established, the swell is consistent and the Bukit is working every morning. The crowd arrives with it, from mid month onward. June is the last month where a dawn session at Uluwatu is not shared with fifty people, and only just.
Families in June
Very good, book early
Strong month for this
Comfortable temperatures, low humidity, no cancellations and everything open. The Australian Term 2 break starts in late June and runs into July, which fills the south coast and the family rooms. Book four to five months out if your dates are in the second half of the month.
What a Nusa Penida day trip really involvesCouples in June
Good, in the first half
Strong month for this
Cool nights, dry evenings and clear views make early June excellent. The second half changes the character of the coast as the school holidays land. Ubud and the east stay calmer than Seminyak and the Bukit through the whole month.
Budget in June
The step up month
Fine month for this
The first fortnight is still shoulder pricing. From mid June the rates jump rather than drift, and they do not come back down until late September. If June is your month, the first two weeks are worth a great deal more than the last two, for essentially the same weather.
Waterfalls in June
Past their best
Fine month for this
Three months into the dry season the smaller falls have thinned noticeably. Kanto Lampo and Tibumana are shadows of their February selves. The pools are clear and swimmable, and the big north coast falls still carry proper volume, which is where to go this month.

Safe, if you plan the hours
Strong month for this
Nothing will go wrong with the weather. What will go wrong is arriving at Tegallalang at eleven in the morning in the second half of the month. From mid June, the hour you arrive matters more than anything else on this page.
June is not one month
June contains the sharpest price change of the year. High season does not begin on the first of the month, it begins around the middle of it, and the two halves are different trips at different costs.
1 to 15 June
Dry season, shoulder pricing
16 to 30 June

What June does badly

The mid month step
The same villa, the same weather, a different price from about the middle of the month. June is where the year's rates change gear.
June is where Bali stops being cheap. The rate change in the middle of the month is a step rather than a drift, it applies to accommodation, drivers and popular tours at the same time, and it holds until late September. Nothing about the weather improves to justify it.
The second thing is the water. June has the coldest sea of the year, and around the Nusa islands the upwellings that give you the visibility also give you 24 to 26 °C at the surface with colder layers underneath. A shorty is not enough for a long snorkel here.
And the falls have thinned. If waterfalls are the trip, June is three months too late and you want April.
Booking around June
June is the month booking ahead stops being optional. From the middle of the month the popular tours sell out and the good drivers are taken, and the price of leaving it late is higher than the price of booking early.
